Anyone may join these open calls at any time to receive support from the Office of Educator Licensing staff.
What Can I Teach with My License?
The Assignment Code is a resource document used by educators to determine the appropriate license for a teaching, administrative or school services assignment in an Indiana accredited school.

IMPORTANT NOTES
- RELATED TO LICENSING: All educator licenses and permits, including substitute permits, are considered valid for the duration of the school year if they are valid on the first day of school in the school or district in which the license or permit holder is employed.
- RELATED TO EMERGENCY PERMITS: Emergency Permits must be obtained within 4 weeks of hiring. This is a change from the prior 12-week timeline.

All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. This includes situations involving duplicate payments, duplicate applications, applications submitted in error, or applications submitted prematurely.

- $35 for an Evaluation (Out-of-State, Non-US Graduates, Advanced Degrees, Charter licenses, and ABCTE)
- $15 for a Substitute Permit
Indiana’s Praxis retest policy called Free After 3 became effective January 1, 2026 for Praxis test takers. This new policy is explained by a Free After 3 FAQ document found here.
